Viva Macau Airlines has begun to accept credit cards for purchases made onboard flights, an official from the Macau-based low-fare passenger airline tells PaymentsSource. The airline conducts 24 flights each day.
“We have signed a deal with GuestLogix Inc. in this regard,” he says. “The vendor has successfully installed GuestLogix [point-of-sale] handhelds and the retail transaction platform on all of Viva Macau’s flights.”
By enabling flight attendants to accept card payments during flights, the airline operator will be able to introduce even more new products and services, such as ground-transportation tickets, ferry tickets to Hong Kong and tickets for places of interest in Macau, he adds.
GuestLogix Inc. is a Canadian publicly traded technology company that has been providing onboard retail systems to the passenger-travel industry since 2002.
