Lowe's, which has more than 1,750 stores in the U.S., Canada and Mexico, will implement the Comdata MasterCard Corporate Fleet Card program, which provides universal acceptance and data reporting. The program also provides access to driver transaction tracking via Comdata FleetAdvance.

Comdata is a business-to-business provider of electronic payment products, working in the fleet, corporate and healthcare industries.

"We understand that fuel can be one of the most variable expenses for a fleet, so as a company we strive to deliver as much value and insight as we can around each purchase transaction," said Randy Morgan, an executive vice president at Comdata, in a release.

Lowe's is also a member of the Merchant Customer Exchange, a consortium of retailers that are developing a mobile point of sale payments system. MCX plans to use a bar-code system that would work across multiple mobile wallets.
