Maas Global founder and CEO Troy Maas and a team of engineers had built the Linkpoint Payment Gateway for Cardservice International in the 1990s. The Las Vegas-based company brought players from that effort together to build its transaction-processing services, which it says are used by thousands of retail and card-not-present merchants.

Under their partnership, Maas Global will be the processing engine behind Pride Payments’ software-based “virtual” point-of-sale terminal designed for small and midsize businesses, the companies noted in a press release. Merchants that sign on with Pride now will receive such services as gateway connectivity that complies with Payment Card Industry data security and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act standards, immediate transaction reporting analytics, and client relationship support staff.

Pride’s founder and CEO is Doug Byerley, a former senior vice president at First Data Corp. Byerley incorporated Pride in November.
