MasterCard Inc. announced April 27 it has appointed Marcie Verdin as its group head for global person-to-person payments.

The Purchase, N.Y.-based company said that Verdin would handle its global P-to-P strategy, including identifying new payment systems. She replaces Andrew Ong, who has left the company.

Verdin, who has worked at MasterCard since 2005, was most recently its group head for global commercial products. The company said she has “made significant contributions” in developing products for its business segments. Verdin has also worked at Galileo International, VeriSign, Visa, American Express and Accenture.
