MasterCard Exec Shuffle Aligns Regions, New Products

MasterCard Inc. today announced a corporate reorganization designed to help develop new products and to decentralize global customer operations to improve the focus on key international regions. The company named Chris McWilton president of the newly formed U.S. Markets unit, encompassing U.S.-based global accounts and the U.S. region. McWilton previously was MasterCard president, global accounts. MasterCard also named Walt Macnee president of the renamed International Markets, which includes all markets outside the U.S. The presidents of MasterCard's four key international regions–Latin America and the Caribbean, Europe, Asia Pacific/Middle East/Africa, and Canada–will continue to report to Macnee, who previously was president, Global Markets. The card brand named Wendy Murdock chief franchise officer to lead payment-system integrity and franchise development. Murdock previously was chief product officer. MasterCard also named Tim Murphy to lead the newly formed Core Products unit, which encompasses consumer and commercial credit cards, debit cards, integrated processing, prepaid cards and PayPass. Murphy previously was president of the U.S. region. Joshua Peirez was named to head the new Innovative Platforms unit, including e-commerce, mobile, chip and the software-development company Orbiscom, which MasterCard acquired this week (CardLine, 1/5). Peirez previously was chief payment system integrity officer. Robert W. Selander, MasterCard president and CEO, said in a statement the changes "will provide a better global customer experience, ensure that we deliver in a more efficient and cost-effective manner, and further clarify internal roles."
