MasterCard Worldwide today launched an ATM-finder application for Blackberry smartphones, nearly a year after the card brand rolled out the same free downloadable, customizable application for the Apple iPhone.
The application enables Blackberry smartphone owners to locate the nearest ATM from MasterCard’s database. A MasterCard spokesperson did not know how many ATM locations the database houses.
Blackberry owners may customize their searches based on various critera, including where to find their own bank’s ATMs, surcharge-free foreign ATMs, wheel-chair accessible machines and drive-through ATM access.
MasterCard launched the ATM Hunter application for Apple iPhone last April. “The application has been well received by the public,” says the spokesperson, declining to say how often consumers have used the application.
More than 4 million consumers annually contact MasterCard via the Web, by phone and through SMS text messaging to find ATM locations, MasterCard noted in a statement
