MasterCard Names Bhalla DataCash President

MasterCard Worldwide has appointed Ajay Bhalla president of DataCash Group PLC, the card brand announced May 17.

Bhalla will be in charge of all of DataCash’s operations, including its Fraud Tool and Risk Management services. He joined MasterCard in 1992, most recently serving as division president for South East and South Asia.

MasterCard bought DataCash, a United Kingdom-based credit card processor, in October to expand its e-commerce business (see story). In December, the payment network announced plans to acquire the prepaid program management assets of Travelex Holdings Ltd. in London (see story). 

Before joining MasterCard, Bhalla worked at HSBC Holdings PLC and Xerox Corp.
