MegaPath, a provider of managed IP data, voice and security services in
North America, stated that its StoreConnect service now enables
independent convenience store owners with as few as a single location
to save money on credit/debit card transactions.
"Because independent convenience stores do not have the IT resources
and network infrastructure of the larger corporate owned or franchise
brands, they haven't been able to take advantage of low-cost
Internet-based credit card processing solutions without compromising
security," said Beth Tyebjee, Senior Vice President of Marketing at
MegaPath. "In the past, convenience stores have had to choose between
costly satellite service or slow dial-up connections to process credit
cards securely. MegaPath StoreConnect uses secure broadband access to
minimize credit card transaction times, which improves customer
satisfaction while reducing infrastructure costs and credit card
processing fees."
MegaPath said that its StoreConnect is tailored to the specific needs
of independent convenience store owners, allowing them to safely
process credit cards and access the Internet over a single broadband
line. Store owners can use their existing Internet access or a MegaPath
provided high-speed DSL, cable or wireless connection. This solution
allows users to connect serial and dial-based Point-of-Sales (POS)
terminals, such as a Verifone Ruby/Saphire or Gilbarco G-Star. In
addition, dial back-up can be added to ensure 100 percent uptime and
performance.
"As an independent gas station and convenience store, it is extremely
important to us that everything we do helps ensure customer
satisfaction, which is why we chose MegaPath StoreConnect to support
our credit card processing," said Randy Eakin, Owner of Randy's
Automotive. "With eight card processing terminals at the pumps and one
inside our store, MegaPath's StoreConnect service delivers fast and
secure access to our processor so that our customers can get on their
way as quickly as possible. Previously, we used satellite and dial up,
and StoreConnect is faster, and more reliable than either of those
options."
MegaPath leverages the most widely used and robust Internet security
technologies to encrypt and safely deliver credit card data, so that
customers can comply with the stringent Payment Cardholder Information
(PCI) Data Security Standard. And, unlike other Internet-based credit
card processing services that charge store owners a per transaction
surcharge, MegaPath noted that StoreConnect lets users process as many
transactions as they want for one low monthly fee.
