Monitise Closes Acquisition of Clairmail

Monitise PLC officially completed its acquisition of Clairmail Inc. on June 26, the mobile banking and payments providers announced.

London-based Monitise announced two weeks ago that it had cleared the regulatory steps in California to complete the purchase of San Rafael, Calif.-based Clairmail.

The deal positions Monitise to increase its presence in the U.S., where the mobile payments infrastructure provider serves more than 300 financial institutions and partners, including a third of the top 50 North American financial institutions and eight of the top 13, according to a Monitise press release.

Monitise has strategic partnerships with Visa Inc., Visa Europe, Fidelity National Information Services (FIS) and RBS Technology Services, the release stated.
