MyPINpad, Clik partner on Asian mobile payments authorization

Payment acceptance and secure authorization software provider myPINpad is partnering with payments aggregator Clik in Southeast Asia to offer merchants PIN-based security on mobile devices.

The partnership with Cambodia-based Clik will help myPINpad expand in Asia, where the company feels it can streamline payment processing and security in a region with many local options.

"The payments landscape in Southeast Asia is fast-evolving and consumers are opting for an ever-greater variety of cashless payment options," Morten Hofstad, head of Asia-Pacific for London-based myPINpad, said in a Tuesday press release. "As such, merchants of all sizes area looking to the payments industry to respond rapidly with products and services that meet their ever-changing needs.

Consumers in the Asia-Pacific region have increasingly adopted credit and debit cards and various mobile wallets. It has created a scenario in which myPINpad and Clik are seeking to eliminate the need for merchants to deal with four or more third-party providers.

As an aggregator of various payment methods for merchants, Clik says it will benefit from myPINpad's PCI-compliant security and facilities that aid with integrations into existing payment infrastructure, including pre-existing bank and international payment scheme cards.

MyPINpad will provide Clik with its Open mPOS solution, saying it is the first time an approved PIN entered onto a mobile device will be available to a merchant's customers in Southeast Asia.

"We have built an exceptional relationship over the past three years," Matthew Tippetts, CEO of Clik, said in the release. "We are proud of our relationship and look forward to seeing it grow into the future."
