NCR Corp. is adding two-sided printing capability to its SelfServ ATMs, CardLine sister publication American Banker reports. The technology is now standard on NCR's SelfServ 20 and 30 series models in North America, the Duluth, Ga.-based ATM vendor said last week. Two-sided printers can print transaction details and check images on both sides of a receipt. Envelope-free ATMs are becoming more common, using image systems to accept check deposits. The machines display images on their screens and typically also print images on receipts for customers to verify. Putting images on receipts makes them much longer than receipt slips with just transaction details; two-sided printers can generate receipts up to 73% faster than ATMs that put images on just one side, and they use up to 45% less paper, NCR says. By making two-sided printing "a standard offering on NCR SelfServ, we will help our customers improve uptime and availability" and "reduce paper waste and supply-chain costs," Michael O'Laughlin, vice president and general manager of NCR's financial services unit, said in a statement.
