The automated teller machine and self-serve kiosk maker NCR Corp. has purchased the assets of Netkey Inc., a provider of kiosk digital signage management software.
NCR, of Duluth, Ga., said Monday that the acquisition would help its expanding kiosk operations; many of Netkey's 400 clients already use NCR's technology with their self-checkout and point of sale systems. The business machine maker Pitney Bowes Inc., for example, uses Netkey software on an NCR kiosk for one of its postage meter products.
NCR did not give a price for the transaction. Netkey is based in East Haven, Conn.
"This acquisition will enable NCR to help its customers across multiple industries with kiosks and digital signage solutions that deliver more effective transactions, promotions and information as part of a merged channel strategy," Mike Webster, vice president and general manager of NCR's retail business line, said in a press release.
