New POS Portal App Supports Portable Terminal Inventory And Pricing Checks

Merchant-level salespeople who use POS Portal Inc. as their point-of-sale equipment distributor now have a mobile-phone tool that enables them to check the availability and wholesale pricing of devices, POS Portal announced Jan. 4.

The free POS Portal Mobile App, available for Apple Inc.’s iPhone and iPod Touch devices, is exclusively for an ISO or sales agent to use, a spokesperson for Sacramento, Calif.-based POS Portal tells PaymentsSource. The app, which also lists daily specials on equipment and access to more information about products, is an accessory service to POS Portal’s primary purchasing website.

Sales agents may use the app to notify merchants of product availability, says the spokesperson. They may order devices directly from within the app using their credit card information, he says.

Having immediate pricing information also could help agents determine whether they could counter a competitive offer. And agents also may save a list of favorite devices within the app, making it easier to check their prices and availability, the spokesperson says.
