In particular, the company says Bitcoin miners, the individuals who use high-end computer equipment to validate transactions made with the digital currency, are among the people who order technology from its website.

"Newegg's customers are among some of the earliest Bitcoin miners and are enthusiastic proponents of the cryptocurrency," says Soren Mills, chief marketing officer for Newegg North America, in a July 1 press release. "Adopting Bitcoin as a payment method is another way we're responding to our customer's diverse needs."

Newegg, which accepts Bitcoin through an integration with BitPay, has more than 25 million customers and sells more than 10.5 million products.  It can also offer refunds in Bitcoin.

"Newegg has been the most requested retailer from the Bitcoin community and our collaboration will serve this pent-up demand," says Tony Gallippi, co-founder and executive chairman at BitPay, in the release.

BitPay has more than 35,000 merchant clients and has raised more than $32 million in investment funding. The company plans on hiring 70 new people by the end of the year.

Newegg accepts several alternative payment methods, including PayPal, Bill Me Later, and the Visa and MasterCard digital wallets, V.me and MasterPass.
