The Nigerian mobile payments company Teasy Mobile is expanding its range of services through a partnership with VeriFone Mobile, a joint venture of payment terminal maker VeriFone and mobile money provider Mobilis Networks.
Teasy customers will have access to VeriFone Mobile's biometrics and mobile point-of-sale technology, according to the companies' joint March 4 press release. VeriFone Mobile offers technology that integrates point-of-sale devices with mobile wallet, banking and telecommunications provider networks.
"Nigeria is a rapidly advancing and sophisticated mobile money market, and there are many mobile wallet providers already in the Nigerian market," Chris Jones, chief executive of VeriFone Mobile, says in the release. "With Teasy Mobile, VeriFone Mobile will be offering a market first in Nigeria delivering Teasy customers frictionless, fast and secure transactions at the agents' point of sale utilizing a combination of biometrics and near field communications devices including mobile and card."
