Planet Payment Appoints Carl Williams as CEO

Planet Payment's president, Carl Williams, has been elevated to CEO, succeeding Philip Beck, who will remain chairman of the multi-currency transaction processor's board.

Williams joined Planet Payment as president in November 2013, and had served on the company's board of directors since August 2013. He was previously president of worldwide payment processing for Global Payments from May 2012 to July 2013, and was divisional president of merchant services for National Processing Co.

"Although I have only been part of the Planet Payment management team for a few months, I have grown even more impressed by the talent and passion our team members possess," says Williams in a Feb. 19 press release. "I look forward to working with our team members and the board to plot a course for long-term growth and prosperity."

Planet Payment offers Pay in Your Currency, which enables international travelers to pay in their home currency at the point of sale.
