The provider now also sells some of its cards worldwide, including Steam gift cards, which can be redeemed for games on the Steam downloadable software platform. Steam is a bestseller for pockio, the company says.
New brands include Etsy, an e-commerce website for handmade arts and crafts; Gregg's, the largest bakery chain in the U.K.; Asda Stores Ltd., a supermarket chain in the U.K. that is a unit of Walmart; and Boots U.K. Limited, a pharmacy chain. Consumers can purchase gift cards with 13 different cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin, Litecoin and Dogecoin.
"This now covers an incredibly wide range of retail sectors," said Bradley Roberts, co-founder of pockio. "In addition to supermarket shopping, gaming, electronics and fashion there's no excuse not to spend bitcoin on everyday purchases."
Pockio also offers the Great British Pub Card, which can be used to purchase at more than 750 pubs. Alcoholic beverages can also be bought and delivered through pockio's three wine delivery merchants.
Pockio plans to move into the mobile top-ups market soon, said Roberts.
