Moneris Solutions Corp., a Toronto-based payment processor, is buying $10 million in point-of-sale terminals from VeriFone Holdings Inc. The contract calls for the purchase of several thousand terminals over a 15-month period. Neither company provided a specific number of terminals. The contract includes three terminal models, says San Jose, Calif.-based VeriFone, the Vx810 PIN pad, the Vx810 Duet device that can be handed over to customers and the Vx670 wireless POS terminal. The terminals accept magnetic stripe and chip cards. Canada is migrating to chip beginning next year and magnetic stripe cards will no longer be accepted at POS terminals after Dec. 31, 2015, according to Interac, Canada's PIN-debit network.
