MasterCard Inc. announced that Rima Qureshi has joined its board of directors.
The Purchase, N.Y.-based card brand said that with Qureshi’s appointment its board now has 12 directors.
Qureshi is senior vice president and business unit head for Telefonaktiebolaget LM Ericsson’s CDMA Mobile Systems business. She began working at the Swedish telecommunications equipment maker in 1993 and has held several positions at the company in Canada and Sweden.
Qureshi was a consultant with DMR Group Inc. before that.
“Rima’s expertise in the mobile, telecommunications and information technology industries and her proven leadership capabilities will certainly benefit MasterCard,” Richard Haythornthwaite, MasterCard’s chairman, said in a press release April 29.
