Veda Advantage, a credit-report credit-reporting agency with offices in Australia and New Zealand, is asking government officials in New Zealand to change privacy laws so lenders can gather more information about credit cardholders. New Zealand's present privacy laws allow the release of only negative credit information, according to Veda and press reports. The agency also wants access to such information as when consumers take out cards, their card-spending limits and which cards they have cancelled. New Zealand's Privacy Commissioner reportedly will discuss the issue next week.
