S1 first announced its work with PayPal, a unit of eBay Inc., in November 2009 when PayPal launched its PayPal X development platform. Using this platform, S1 adapted PayPal’s service so users could initiate funds transfers to PayPal accounts from within online banking or mobile banking.

“The integration with PayPal through S1 enables our credit union to meet our goals of providing 24x7 mobile-payment services that meet our members’ needs,” Pete Paulson, chief executive of Corporate America Family Credit Union of Elgin, Ill., said in a press release Tuesday.

S1’s announcement did not name its other clients, though past announcements have named Mercantile Bank of Michigan as the first S1 client to use its PayPal link.
