SecurityMetrics Inc. has introduced SecurityMetrics Vision, a network-threat sensor designed to help small merchants secure their business networks and comply with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard, the company announced May 9.
The product combines internal-vulnerability scanning, log analysis, wireless detection and a firewall router in a small unit requiring virtually no configuration, SecurityMetrics noted in a press release.
The device, which becomes available this month, costs about $99 per month, a fraction of the expense for single-purpose tools that cost thousands or tens of thousands of dollars and require extensive technical knowledge and maintenance, according to the release.
SecurityMetrics Vision eliminates the need to purchase multiple products and simplifies security management, reporting and specific PCI requirements for smaller merchants that lack the IT staff or resources to deploy expensive and complex services, the release said.
“We designed SecurityMetrics Vision to be easy to set up and administer for merchants, many of whom don’t have the time or expertise to resolve key PCI requirements,” SecurityMetrics CEO Brad Caldwell said in the release.
