The Atlanta processor said last week that it is now offering "specialized technical and customer care in Mandarin and Cantonese" to Canadian merchants.

Jordan E. Cohen, the president of Global Payments's Canada unit, said in a press release that the expanded services made sense, since the Chinese community is "one of the largest and fastest-growing in Canada."

Phyllis McNeill, a spokeswoman for Global Payments, said Cantonese and Mandarin-language services are not currently available for its U.S. merchant clients, though Spanish, French, Russian, German, and Portuguese are options.

Last month Global Payments renewed a multiyear agreement with United Merchant Services Inc., a Hackensack, N.J., independent sales organization that specializes in serving Asian-American merchants
