Spindle Adds Rich Media Features to Yowza App

Spindle has revised its Yowza mobile shopping app to fuel further engagement with consumers through its commerce platform.

The newly updated app for Apple and Android devices will offer both merchants and consumers new features including rich media content and a sleeve to store coupons and offers.

Yowza allows merchants to send marketing content in-store to consumers via their smartphones by way of geo-location and proximity transmitters using Bluetooth technology. This beaconing feature, which Spindle set out to incorporate when it hired Michael Buchanan as vice president last year, will now have the ability to distribute rich media content, such as video and audio or web links, to consumers.

Additionally, the app received a facelift with changes to its navigation, menus and technical capabilities. Additions include a coupon sleeve to store and redeem promotional offers and a subscription option for consumers to follow merchants.

The Yowza app is part of Spindle's greater Yowza suite of services, which includes point of sale offerings, payment acceptance and local and national marketing programs. In addition to the app's beaconing functionality, Yowza also provides merchants with a data analytics platform that can create reports on information gathered through ecommerce, mobile commerce, POS devices and its beaconing technology.
