Spire Appoints Payments Vet Richard Lyon to European Post

Richard Lyon is the new commercial director for Northern Europe at Spire Payments, a payments technology company.

Lyon has worked for more than 30 years in cards and payments. He previously founded Monetize Consulting, was customer services director for Ingenico in Northern Europe, and held various senior positions in payments and commercial banking with HSBC.

“The launch of a new range of products gives Spire Payments the opportunity to significantly build upon its growing customer base and established principle of placing the customer at the center of its day-to-day activities,” said Lyon in a Sept. 23 press release.

Lyon was also previously a senior vice president at Thyron Systems. Spire, a specialist in point of sale hardware, purchased Thyron to expand its mobile payment and chip-card capabilities.

“Richard’s business acumen, entrepreneurial spirit and extensive experience of the Cards and Payments industry from within both the banking and POS industries will greatly contribute to the development and evolution of the Spire Payments business in Northern Europe,” said Nick Parsons, managing director of Spire Payments in Northern Europe, in a press release.
