Square Inc. has hired Gokul Rajaram to head software development for the Square Register app as the company's Product Engineering Lead.
Square, which offers a portable card reader that attaches to smartphones and tablets, is putting more emphasis on its Square Register app, which is meant to function as a replacement for a point of sale terminal. Square recently enhanced the Register product by tying it to
Rajaram was most recently Facebook's director of ads, a role he took after Facebook bought the company he co-founded, Chia Labs, according to Square's June 27 press release. Prior to that, Rajaram was product management director for Google AdSense.
