Fiserv Inc. Monday announced that SunTrust Banks Inc. will use its mobile-banking service that gives consumers more access to mobile-financial services.
Mobile Money will enable SunTrust customers to access their accounts using text messaging or mobile browser. Those services are in addition to a separate free downloadable application that is already available.SunTrust launched the application two years ago and 8% of its online banking user have downloaded it, Ginger Schmeltzer, bank vice president, tells PaymentsSource. She declined to reveal the total amount of online banking users.
Consumers also can use Mobile Money for account balance inquiries, transaction history, account transfers and bill payments. An ATM and branch locator also is included.
Mobile Money is intended for all SunTrust customers, particularly those who chose not to download the application or lack a mobile browser, Schmeltzer says. “[The service] is for any one who wants to access their accounts quickly,” she adds.
SunTrust already uses Fiserv products for bill payment and online banking.
