Target Corp. is offering consumers prepaid Target gift cards in exchange for used electronics as part of a recycling campaign.
The service, which launched Aug. 24, is available in Northern California stores that feature Target Mobile centers. Target’s Electronics Trade-In program will roll out to additional stores in September and will be available at approximately 850 stores by the end of the year, according to a company spokesperson.
The program “encourages guests to be eco-friendly and get rewarded for it,” the spokesperson says.
Consumers may trade in a variety of electronics, including new or used Apple Inc. iPhones and iPods and other cell phones, DVDs and video games.
Consumers can receive up to more than $200 per donated item, depending on the product and its condition.
