TransferTo teams with MallforAfrica for cross-border e-commerce

International cross-border transaction enabler TransferTo has partnered with the e-commerce platform MallforAfrica enabling nearly 300 million African consumers with mobile money accounts to shop abroad.

MallforAfrica represents more than 200 U.S. and European retailers and through its connection with TransferTo, African consumers who lack bank accounts or credit cards may use mobile wallets to directly purchase goods online from merchants including eBay and Ralph Lauren, TransferTo said in a June 27 press release.

Singapore-based TransferTo supports the integration through an API, and MallforAfrica is handling all aspects of the merchandise order-and-return cycle, with the first phase of the rollout targeting online shoppers in Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya and Rwanda, according to the announcement.

“TransferTo will now be a major payments solution provider for MallforAfrica to focus on growth and expansion into other markets,” said Eric Barbier, TransferTo’s CEO, in the release.
