Hoping to lure back customers, Triton Systems of Delaware Inc. has launched a special promotion during which it is extending the warranty on the cash-dispensing mechanism installed in two of its low-cost ATMs. The ATM maker is extending the warranty to two years from 13 months for the MiniMech cash dispenser installed in new Triton RL(Retail Lobby)1600 and the RL2000 machines, James Phillips, Triton director of North American sales, tells ATM&Debit News, a CardLine sister publication. Triton also is extending the warranty on conversion kits ATM independent sales organizations buy to install MiniMech in previously purchased Triton ATMs to 12 months from six months, Phillips says. Talaris Ltd. builds the MiniMech, which the United Kingdom-based company introduced in 2002, says Chris Halewood, Talaris sales manager-Americas, worldwide original equipment manufacturing. Triton announced the promotion, which began June 15 and ends Dec. 31, shortly after the company's purchase by Nautilus Hyosung Inc. fell apart. As ATM ISOs waited for the deal to be finalized, many shifted their business to Nautilus Hyosung, which is based in South Korea. Some industry analysts speculated that without Nautilus Hyosung's financial backing, Triton would go out of business. Triton hopes the special promotion convinces some of its wayward customers to return, Phillips says. "This is just one thing we are doing to let the industry know we are not going anywhere," he says.
