TSYS Reports Q4 Revenue, Transaction Increases

Client-transaction volume increases fueled card processing revenue, resulting in a 7.3% increase in fourth quarter revenue for Total Systems Services Inc., or TSYS, the company announced Jan. 24.

The Columbus, Ga.-based payments processor reported $472.2 million in total revenues for the quarter ended Dec. 31, up from $439.9 million during the same period the previous year. Net income was up 27.1%, to $59.9 million from $47.1 million.

For North America, TSYS revenue increased 5.2%, to $246 million from $234 million. Transaction volume for the quarter rose 13.2%, to 1.96 billion from 1.73 billion, while accounts on file reported for all of 2011 increased 18.5%, to 351 million from 296 million.

International Services generated a 15.5% increase in revenue, to $106.5 million from $92.2 million. Transaction volume for the quarter increased 11.7%, to 399.5 million from 357.6 million, while accounts on file rose 14%, to 52.8 million from 46.3 million

Merchant Services reported a 1.6% decrease in point-of-sale volume, to 1.216 billion transactions from 1.235 billion.
