Total System Services Inc., a United States-based payment processor also known as TSYS, said Monday it had signed an agreement with Japan-based Sony Finance International Inc., a subsidiary of Sony Corp., to process the firm's new credit cards. The deal is a "multi-year agreement," TSYS says in a statement without providing more details. The cards enable cardholders to pay their bills in U.S. dollars or Japanese yen, the statement says. Transactions made outside Japan will be charged in dollars, while those inside Japan will be charged in yen. TSYS operates in Japan through the company's wholly owned subsidiary, TSYS Japan.
