TSYS to Offer ShopKeep's Tablet Point of Sale Technology

Total Systems Services (TSYS) is partnering with ShopKeep POS to extend the processor's range of mobile and tablet-based point of sale offerings.

Under the agreement, TSYS will offer technology from ShopKeep POS along with its existing payment processing services. TSYS already offers mobile acceptance to small merchants through technology obtained in its 2012 purchase of ProPay, an independent sales organization with a mobile card reader called ProPay Jak.

TSYS also offers an application programming interface that merchants can use to integrate their own mobile apps into TSYS' payment processing service.

Adding ShopKeep POS' tools will bolster TSYS' ability to compete with payment companies like Square. ShopKeep POS' products include an iPad stand, cash drawer, card reader and receipt printer that work with its iPad software to accept credit cards, debit cards and mobile payments.

ShopKeep POS also has partnerships with companies like PayPal, Dwolla and SCVNGR's LevelUp.

"Our mission is to support small businesses in every way we can, and as part of that we strive to work with the best partners in the business," says Todd Lasher, general manager and vice president of ShopKeep POS' channel business, in a May 6 press release. "TSYS has a long history in the payment industry and provides an extremely high-quality service."
