United Kingdom retailers appear to be growing more assured about the benefits of maintaining payment-security practices, finds a recent survey by The Logic Group Enterprises Ltd. The survey by London-based The Logic Group found that 88% of respondents said they perceive some benefit from PCI compliance. The percentage expressing doubt about PCI compliance fell to 12% in the 2009 survey, compared with 30% in 2005, the first year of the survey. The survey of 200 UK merchants in October found that 83% of them believe their organization is "more or significantly more" secure because of their adoption of the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard. Most of the respondents are retailers with a mix of other industries included, and all were customers of the firm, which specializes in loyalty and payment card processing services, a spokesperson for The Logic Group says. Twenty-five percent of respondents said they are compliant with the standard, compared with 15% in the 2008 survey. The Logic Group also found retailers were optimistic about the amount of time to become compliant. While 71% of respondents said they were either already compliant or would be within 12 months, only 25% said they met that goal.
