China UnionPay has signed a deal with Indonesia-based payment services firm PT Abhimata Persada to provide China UnionPay card acceptance for merchants in Indonesia, a spokesperson for the China-based card organization tells CardLine Global. The deal will benefit Chinese tourists visiting Indonesia, the spokesperson says. The deal focuses on merchant acceptance in the tourist hotspot of Bali. At least 200,000 Chinese consumers visit Indonesia every year, UnionPay says. The Indonesian arm of United States-based Citibank already accepts UnionPay cards at its ATMs, the card organization says.
