Consumers in Qatar now may pay their water and electricity bills at ATMs deployed by Qatar National Bank, according to a spokesperson for Kahramaa, which also is known as the Qatar General Electricity and Water Corp.

The bank and utility struck the bill-payment agreement last month, according to the spokesperson. “Qatar National Bank is the first bank in Qatar to launch this service,” he says. The bank deploys 58 ATMs.

Consumers previously could pay bills from the utility at the Kahramaa website or by using the Hukoomi online bill-payment system. They also may pay their bills manually at payment centers, the spokesperson says.

Kahramaa customers do not need to register for the service, and consumers who are not customers of Qatar National also may access the bank’s ATMs to use the service at no charge.

“Bill payments can be completed at any of the bank's ATMs using cash and debit or credit cards issued by any bank in Qatar,” the spokesperson adds. “Customers have to enter their electricity (account) numbers to view their current billable amount and complete payments.”

Customers with more than one electricity-account number may enter each number separately to ensure payment of the correct bill.
