Venmo In-App Payments Roll Out to All Users

Seven months after disclosing a test enabling Venmo P-to-P users to buy goods and services in-app, the PayPal unit has rolled out the "Pay with Venmo" feature to all users and expanded the list of participating merchants.

Venmo users can now make in-app payments at 11 merchants including Munchery, Gametime, Parking Panda and Delivery.com, with the ability to instantly split and settle bills, Venmo said in a July 26 blog post.

PayPal continues to expand Venmo's capabilities. As part of an agreement PayPal reached last week with Visa, consumers will be able to move funds from PayPal and Venmo accounts to their Visa debit cards via Visa Direct.

Venmo, launched by two former college roommates in 2009, enables users to link a bank account, credit or debit card to the app to send payments directly to other Venmo users. The company was acquired by Braintree in 2012 for $26.2 million and PayPal absorbed Venmo when it bought Braintree in late 2013. Venmo has more than 1.5 million users.
