Outside of the United States, VeriFone Holdings Inc. posted improved revenue results for fiscal 2008 compared with the previous fiscal year. The company's fiscal year ended 31 Oct. VeriFone's Latin America, Europe and Asia sales regions all experienced revenue growth for the year. Latin America revenue totaled US$198.4 million (138.4 million euros), up 23.3% from $160.9 million in fiscal 2007. VeriFone's Asia sales totaled $74 million, up 16.2% from $63.7 million. European sales reached $292 million, up 3.7% from $281.6 million. During a conference call with analysts late Tuesday, VeriFone CEO Douglas G. Bergeron noted that, while international sales might continue to grow in fiscal 2009, the growth rate likely will be lower. He expects no growth in North America and 10% elsewhere. Internationally, Bergeron forecasts that European sales will be flat for the year and range from 15% growth to 20% in other global regions. "Our assumptions are that it'll be a challenging first half [of 2009]," Bergeron said.
