The San Jose, Calif.-based terminal maker, which is making a push for new Eastern European business, said the millionth device was installed at an Eldorado electronics retail store in Tyumen, a city east of Moscow.

In November, VeriFone said it was paying about $825 million to Nordic Capital Fund V, which owns Point, a Stockholm gateway service provider (see story).  Earlier this year, VeriFone completed the purchase of part of Hypercom Corp. (see story). The deal was made on the strength of the Scottsdale, Ariz.-based company's Eastern European customer base, executives say. Hypercom, which kept its U.S. operations, in October changed its name to Equinox Payments LLC (see story).
