Virtual Piggy Partners With Education Software Maker JumpStart

Youth payments company Virtual Piggy is adding elements of gaming to its product mix via a partnership with JumpStart.

JumpStart develops software that enables educational gameplay on mobile devices and websites, and is launching a multiplayer game this summer. Its other mobile games include Pet Rescue, Preschool Magic of Learning, and Math Blaster. The Torrance, Calif.-based company also recently entered a partnership with DreamWorks Animation to develop educational games.

Virtual Piggy and JumpStart did not release a timeline for financial services-related educational games, and did not return a request for comment by deadline.

Virtual Piggy offers free Web and mobile applications that enable teens to manage budgets and make payments within spending and control parameters set by their parents.

The Hermosa Beach, Calif.-based company has been building out its mobile capabilities to improve its ability to reach younger consumers. It is also expanding internationally, recently adding major toy store clients in the U.K.
