Virtual Piggy's technology allows minors to shop online using a system that provides parents control and supervision of their children's spending. It also helps merchants comply with the Children's Online Privacy and Protection Act.

"We needed to come up with a solution that would allow younger customers to safely purchase the GoldCoast boards they want, and Virtual Piggy was a perfect fit," said Chris Brunstetter, GoldCoast's director of marketing, in a press release Sept. 7. "We're looking forward to the extra revenue opportunities Virtual Piggy will provide to our business, and the safety their service will provide to the families that buy from us."

In addition to selling through its own e-commerce site, GoldCoast sells its skateboards and related products through retailers including REI, Zappos and Tilly's.
