In a recent interview with CardLine sister publication Cards&Payments, Ellen Richey, global head of enterprise risk at Visa Inc., praised the Obama administration's plans to improve online security. "It's building on the groundwork of the comprehensive national cybersecurity initiative, which started awhile back in the past administration," Richey said. "There is a feeling in the industry that cybercriminals operate with impunity in certain jurisdictions around the world." Agencies such as the FBI and Secret Service are focused on shrinking that zone of impunity, working with international governments around the world so law enforcement can apprehend individuals and put them behind bars when they steal from the payments system, she said. "We very much welcome that," Richey said.
