Visa deploys contactless vending machines at fashion event

Visa is providing payments support for contactless vending machines dispensing high-fashion accessories at an event during New York's Fashion Week.

Three vending machines are available to dispense designer tote bags, keychains and bracelets on the spot, according to a Thursday press release. Event attendees may use contactless payment cards or devices to buy merchandise from labels including Rebecca Minkoff and Vanessa Arizaga through next week, demonstrating the tap-to-pay vending technology.

A portion of proceeds will be donated to Women's World Banking, a nonprofit organization promoting female financial literacy, the release said.

"We are excited to work closely with this property to bring our vision for a contactless payments future to life," said Mary Ann Reilly, Visa's senior vice president of North America marketing, in the release.
