Nicolas Huss will be the president and CEO of Visa Europe, replacing Peter Ayliffe, who is leaving the post in October.
Huss current role is chief executive of Apollo Groups Avant credit card business in Spain and Ireland. Prior to Apollo, he worked for Bank of America as the MBNA European Collections & Portfolio Optimization Executive for the card business.
Huss will become Visa Europes new CEO on October 1, when Ayliffe steps down after seven years to "concentrate on his expanding portfolio of non-executive roles," Visa Europe said in a release. "I am delighted to be joining Visa Europe at such an incredibly exciting time for the payments industry. The explosive adoption of smartphones and the relentless growth of e-commerce have created tremendous new opportunities to provide consumers and retailers with even better ways to pay and be paid," said Huss in the release. Visa Europe operates separately from the U.S.-based Visa card network. Visa Europe would not make Huss available for comment.
