Visa Payment Volume Rises 23% In Latin America, Caribbean

Sales volume for Visa-branded products in Latin America and the Caribbean reached US$189 billion (132.8 billion euros) during the 12 months ended 31 March, up 23.3% from the previous fiscal year when measured in constant U.S. dollars, the card organization said Thursday. A Visa spokeperson tells CardLine Global sales volume for the previous 12-month period was $167 billion, which translates into 13.2% growth. Total Visa transactions for the fiscal year ended 31 March stood at about 5 billion, up 19% from about 4.2 billion for the previous 12-month period, the spokesperson says. For the quarter ended 31 March, sales volume in Latin America and the Caribbean totaled $42 billion, up 15.2% from the same quarter when measured in constant dollars, Visa says.
