National Australia Bank will soon introduce several upgrades to its mobile banking app, including a feature that lets customers pay with Visa cards through the NAB app.
NAB partnered with the Visa Developer program on the updates give customers more control over how they use their Visa cards and have saved the bank six months of development time, Mark Jamison, global head of Visa Developer, said in an announcement posted on NAB's website.
“Customers will be able to control what type of payments can be made through the app," Angus Gilfillan, NAB executive general manager of consumer lending, said in the same post. "For example, if you’ve provided a secondary card to a family member, you can choose 'Don’t Allow' for online purchases on that card."
The enhancements also let consumers use new credit cards through NAB Pay for contactless transactions under AUD100, as they wait for the physical card to arrive in the mail; as well as the ability to place temporary blocks on lost or stolen cards.
The announcement coincides with the launch of NAB PayTag stickers this week, which attach to mobile devices to enable contactless payments through users' Visa debit card.
The app updates will be released in stages over the coming year, according to NAB, first for Android devices, followed by iOS devices.
