WesBanco Bank in Wheeling, W.Va., has made instant card issuance available through a technology integration with CPI Card Group.
The $8.5 billion-asset bank employed CPI's Card@Once solution to bring instant card EMV chip debit card issuance to each of its 141 branches across Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia, it announced in an Aug. 17 news release.
"The role of instant issuance has evolved from that of an emerging technology to an expected convenience, while also reducing operational costs and increasing revenue,” Tom Knaus, general manager of financial card operations of CPI Card Group Nashville, said in the release.
It can take seven to 10 days for a new or replacement card to arrive to a customer by mail.
The solution allows the branch to transfer customer data securely to CPI Card Group when a customer requests a new card. CPI processes the data into an encrypted file, returns the data electronically and the Card@Once solution encodes the data onto the chip and prints the card.
“Implementing Card@Once reinforces WesBanco’s mission to maximize customer service at new account opening or emergency card replacement," Knaus said. "The service is a new channel through which chip cards can be delivered quickly and without incurring higher costs associated with mass portfolio replacement.”
