Western Union Adds Self-Serve Kiosks at Walgreens

Western Union has added self-serve money transfer kiosks in Walgreens stores across the country.

The touchscreen kiosks, which provide international and domestic transfers, are available at 7,650 Walgreens and Duane Reade locations in 49 states.  Walgreens customers can already use in-store kiosks to manage their Balance Financial prepaid card accounts.

Western Union also plans to launch additional self-serve options, including smartphone apps and customer service hotlines, it said in an Oct. 1 press release.

"We are bringing retail experience with digital innovation delivering upon our omni-channel strategy," said Odilon Almeida, Western Union's president for the Americas and European Union, in the release.
