WEX wins Verizon fleet card business

WEX Inc. has won a contract to provide fleet card services to Verizon, which operates one of the largest private vehicle fleets in the U.S.

South Portland, Maine-based WEX will provide 25,000 fleet cards for Verizon’s field force via a three-year contract, WEX said in a Tuesday press release.

WEX will support Verizon’s fleet cards with ClearView, a data-visualization tool enabling companies to spot long- and short-term trends, efficiencies and cost-saving opportunities, according to the release.

"We look forward to a close relationship allowing us to co-develop new solutions that will benefit both our businesses," said Bernie Kavanagh, WEX’s senior vice president and general manager of North America large fleet and strategic relationships, in the release.

WEX in the past year has also signed fleet card deals with ExxonMobile and entered a data collaboration with GasBuddy to power a fuel payments app.
