Sandler O'Neill Moves Into New Headquarters in New York

Sandler O’Neill & Partners LP has a new home.

The New York investment banking boutique, led by executive committee head James J. Dunne III,  moved into a new main office in Manhattan this week with more room for its growing staff and for meeting with clients.

Its headquarters at 1251 Avenue of the Americas in Rockefeller Center in midtown Manhattan is a step up from the space at 919 Third Avenue.

It moved there years ago after losing staff and its previous New York office on the 104th floor of Two World Trade Center.

Its last move was frenzied. This time around Sandler looked at multiple locations before settling on two floors of the Exxon Building, which has more rooms for hosting sit-downs with banks seeking merger or capital-raising advice.

Sandler has been adding staffers in New York and other locations, recruiting insurance, restructuring, fixed-income and other talent as it readies for a recovery in banking. It has 255 people in New York, or about 17 more than it did a year ago.

Sandler also has offices in Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, San Francisco and Memphis.
